A garden two years on from planting is only at the beginning of becoming itself.

The clients came to us to build on what they already had. A full home renovation and a garden overhaul. The project had good structure and sound foundations — and they were ready to take it further, to help it establish and mature into something that would hold for the long term.

We began with what was already there. The garden's format and bones were sound, so rather than start again, we worked with them. We replanted the garden beds with species chosen for the site's aspect and Canberra's conditions, rebuilt the beds themselves, returfed throughout, and installed irrigation designed to properly sustain the planting as it establishes.

The driveway was the other piece. The clients wanted a surface to match the quality of the home, so we replaced the existing concrete with exposed aggregate — a finish with the texture and longevity to suit the house it serves.

The result is a garden set up to establish and mature as it should, and a frontage that complements the home behind it.
